Many of these vulnerable young adults leave the foster care system with no job, no stable place to live, limited financial resources, and an inadequate support system for making the transition to a self-supporting and productive adulthood.

While foster-care agencies provide a number of referrals and services for discharging youth, it is only after they are living on their own that many youth fully confronted with the difficult challenges ahead, and services referred to them prior to discharge, might not adequately support them post-discharge.

At the DFCTRC, a team of caring, committed and knowledgeable volunteers work diligently with each participant of the program to bring together the people and resources needed to connect/re-connect youth to education, employment, health care, housing, business, personal and community relationships.
